Laser Flow tubes are used in liquid cooled solid state lasers to channel and direct coolant across the surface of the laser rod and light source. Flow tubes also ensure the smooth flow of the coolant minimizing any turbulence, eddies or boiling within the laser head and cavity. Some light sources produce excessive visible and ultraviolet light which can reduce the efficiency of the lasing process and solarize the surface of the laser rod over an extended period of time. The selection of the filter glass MATERIAL used will minimize the solarization process. The most common glass materials used are Pyrex, Quartz, Cerium Doped Quartz and Samarium doped Quartz.
